Two men have been formally charged in connection with the death of Patrick Gagnon, a 45-year-old man from Lochaber-Partie-Ouest, a rural area in western Quebec. Gagnon had been reported missing on October 31, 2023, after he was last seen in the Kazabazua area. His body was discovered on November 5 along Chemin Héritage in Gracefield.
After a lengthy investigation, officers from the Sûreté du Québec’s major crimes division arrested Stéphane Lévesque and Éric Chénier, both in their forties, on January 14. They are each charged with first-degree murder and with committing an indignity to a human body. Lévesque appeared in court in Montréal and Chénier appeared in Gatineau on the day of their arrest.
Police have not released further details about how Gagnon died, what led to the killing, or what connection the suspects may have had with him. The investigation is ongoing.
