Local rising star from Outaouais, Claudie Létourneau has just released her debut mini-album, ‘Bourrasque,’ which is already taking the Gatineau music scene by storm. The EP, which features four songs that showcase her diverse musical talent and creative lyrics, was written during the pandemic while she was studying at the École nationale de la chanson de Granby.
The EP's first single, ‘Under my stormy hair,’ wowed fans with its jazzy vibes, while the other three songs, ‘November's Summer Love,’ ‘Brush Too Close,’ and ‘Our Boat Is Sinking,’ showcase Claudie’s vocal harmonies and rhythms. The mini-album also comes with a music video for ‘Our Boat Is Sinking,’ shot in the tall grass of a field in Bromont last summer. Claudie's music is a unique cocktail of shivering harmonies that combines audacity and fragility. Her colorful texts and musical arrangements are a testament to her unique style and creativity that fans can't get enough of.
"I grew up in Aylmer, ya! I was in Aylmer for 18 yrs. My favorite musical memory of Aylmer was doing open mics at the British. I did some of my origin songs there when I was in high school. I was one of the only ones singing in French at that time, it was quite special,” Claudie said.
Claudie's inspiration for the EP came from things that moved her emotionally, writing about love and breakups. "Music inspiration for me is always from an emotional place, a place that I feel I have to share with other people," she added. "I love every part of the process of making music. Getting on the piano and letting the creativity flow and then going into the studio to make the instrumentals. Now that I have my band, that’s one of my favorite parts of making music, playing together. I also love performing, of course!” she said.
Claudie has been chosen to participate in the 27th edition of "Les Francouvertes," a major showcase for the emerging French-speaking scene in Montreal. She is one of the 21 artists and groups who were selected for the 2023 edition. Claudie will perform at the Cabaret le Lion d'Or on March 14th. This will be her first public performance of her newly released songs from her EP "Bourrasque," and she also plans to wow the audience with some new songs for this special show.
Half of the votes come from the jury, and the other half are from the audience, so Claudie is counting on her fans to support her by attending the show or watching and voting, virtually. The talented artist, who made a remarkable appearance at Ma Première Place des Arts last year, wows her fans with a multicolored and melodic universe that reflects her artistic approach. Claudie's local roots in Aylmer and her debut EP, ‘Bourrasque,’ showcase her unique style and creative talent, making her a rising star to watch in the Gatineau music scene.
