Access Points to River
Reuel S. Amdur
On June 19, Chelsea announced the opening of three access points to the Gatineau River next spring. One is for swimmers in front of Farm Point Park, a second for non-motorized boats in front of Farm Point Community Centre, and a third for non-motorized boats at the end of Burnett Road. Work is in progress to prepare the docks and launching pads. As well, Chelsea is seeking certification from the Ministère de l’environment. It will also collaborate with the Quebec lifeguard society. Farm Point Park Chalet is to be universally accessible, with addition of washrooms and changing rooms.
The announcement did not address fees to be charged for private docks and any differential between private docks attached to and owned by dock owners and those attached to land owned by the municipality.
